ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - A young Kurdish man was shot dead in Stockholm on Thursday. His family said on Saturday that it is not clear why their son was murdered. Swedish police are investigating the crime.

Swedish state media reported on Thursday that a 25-year-old man was shot dead in Stockhom’s Bredang. No one had not been arrested as of the time of reporting.

“This shooting took place outdoors in a residential area," Sveriges Radio cited Mats Eriksson, Stockholm police spokesperson as saying.

Police have not identified the murdered man but a Kurdish family told Rudaw that one of their members was killed in the same location and on the same day.

Samal Mala Hamadamin identified his cousin, Kovan Mohsen, as the murder victim. The family does not know who killed him and is waiting for the police investigation into the motive.

“All we know is that Kovan did not have any major issues to deserve death,” Hamadamin told Rudaw’s Soran Hussein.

At least five acts of violence have been reported in Stockholm in the past week, according to Swedish media.
