ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Two Kurdish women from northeast Syria (Rojava) have been collaborating as beauty influencers in Germany after connecting on social media.
"I'm very happy with this collaboration. I appreciate the story of this wonderful friendship between Vian and me. We first connected on TikTok and social media, where we got to know each other and eventually started creating videos together," Marlin Albari told Rudaw on Friday.
The 23-year-old has been living in Germany for the past 15 years. She said she hopes to open her own beauty center in the future and wants to teach.
Her collaborator, Vian Khalil, moved to Germany five years ago.
"It's very nice to work with my friend, but I want to complete my studies in media. Right now, we do advertising work, which is very nice and closely related to media," Khalil said of her future plans.
Khalil highlighted the challenges she faced after moving to Germany, particularly regarding language barriers. "It was difficult at first, especially in terms of language. Once a person learns the language well, opportunities improve, and the differences become less noticeable," she said.
Germany is home to a large Kurdish population.
