ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdistan Freedom Hawks (TAK), an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), have claimed responsibility for Saturday’s car bombing targeting Turkish soldiers in Kayseri.

At least 13 Turkish soldiers were killed and more than 50 wounded in a car bomb which targeted a bus transporting the soldiers in the central city.

This was TAK’s second deadly attack within one week. They also claimed responsibility for bombings in Istanbul the Saturday before that killed 35 and wounded 166.

TAK have stated that they are engaged in a “War of Taking Revenge” against Turkish forces who have been fighting a renewed conflict with the PKK for the past year and a half. They state that the Turkish people are not their direct targets.
