ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Amman wants to see more growth in business ties between Jordan and the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, the Jordanian consul general in Erbil told Rudaw on Saturday.

“There is an increase in Jordanian investments and the presence of Jordanian businessmen in the Kurdistan Region. In fact, there are a lot of businessmen that work in multiple sectors, such as the restaurants sector, engineering services sector, the medical sector, and the commerce sector,” Jordanian Consul General Fuad al-Majali told Rudaw’s Zana Kayani in an interview.

“We are working to increase this trade, investment, and cooperative movement. There is an opportunity for all sides to increase trade and investment cooperation,” he added.

Majali said that there are Jordanian businessmen who want to invest in Iraq, and Amman likewise will facilitate Iraqi investment in Jordan.

Annually, thousands of citizens in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq go to Jordan for a range of reasons, such as trade, tourism, medical care, and to study. Majali said that obtaining a visa for Iraqi citizens is straightforward.

“Certainly, there are wide facilitations to obtain a visa for various reasons, especially for medical treatments, businessmen or students, there is a lot of facilitation. Obtaining a visa is easy,” he said.
