More than 130 artworks by students of an Erbil institute were showcased on Tuesday, with many of the paintings portraying Kurdish culture.

The artworks included paintings, ceramics, and designs, and were illustrated by students from grades one to five of the Erbil Institue of Fine Arts’ Department of Painting. They depicted Kurdish culture and many of the artists were dressed in Kurdish clothes.

“We launch exhibitions for students every year. The aim of launching them is to train students and encourage them to present their pieces,” Rebaz Yousif, head of the arts department at the institute, told Rudaw.

“This kind of exhibition is to enable students to be self-reliant in the future and dare to launch their own exhibitions,” he added.

The exhibition was held at the Media Hall in Erbil.
