A statue named ‘Love and Culture’ was unveiled in the city of Sulaimani on Saturday.
Created by the Kurdish sculptor Zirak Mira, the statue stands nine meters in height and weighs 4.5 tons.
It depicts two lovers on a knife’s edge. The message is that people should accept love and not oppose it.
Mira is also responsible for the ‘Lord of Women’s Victory’ statue, which was unveiled in the northern Syrian city of Kobani in 2016, dedicated to Kurdish female fighters.
