SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region - Tam Festival was held in Sulaimani province on Wednesday, with a variety of cuisines including eastern and western dishes presented and evaluated by judges at the end of the festival.

Kurdish cuisine stole the show at the festival, with the menu ranging from “yaprakh, biryani, shufteh, and kubbeh,” as served by Sakar Ahmed, a restaurant owner. “It includes most of the dishes that are popular in Sulaimani,” Ahmed told Rudaw.

Around 80 entrepreneurs participated and served their delicious dishes to the participants. The festival was also an opportunity for artists around the region to exhibit their artworks at this festival, so the participants could enjoy watching different arts and tasting the delicious food at the festival.

“We are the executive committee team, we go together to taste the food of the restaurants and entrepreneurs, and take our notes on the food,” Diyar Abubakir, the leader of the Sulaimani branch of the Kurdistan Chefs Association, said.

Abubakir added that the association also checks the hygiene of the restaurants to ensure the quality of the food.

“We want to see more Kurdish cuisine, that’s why we also check for who has prepared more Kurdish cuisine,” he added.

People have been attending this event from different cities in Kurdistan Region to taste the food and to check out the beautiful artworks exhibited by the local artists.

The festival will continue from 10th May to 15th of May starting from 2 pm afternoon until 11 pm at night.
