SHEKHAN, Kurdistan Region - The leader of a prominent Kurdish tribe invited around 3,000 people from various ethnicities and religions in Duhok province’s Shekhan district on the second day of the Islamic Eid al-Fitr holiday on Monday.

“Our goal is to bring love and unity, and [and help people] get to know each other and forgive one another. We are all brothers and we are at their service,” Farhan Sharafani, who sponsored the event, told Rudaw.

Sunday was the first day of the three-day Islamic holiday, during which Mulsims visit one another and seek forgiveness.

Kurds and Arabs as well as Muslims, Yazidis and Christians were among the attendees of the gathering.

Claudio Lonita is Romanian and has been working with oil companies in the area for several years. He said he was amazed by the diversity of the event.
