President Barzani arrives in Germany to attend Munich Security Conference

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani has arrived in Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference (MSC), where he is set to hold meetings with world leaders and discuss regional developments, said his spokesperson on Thursday.

Dilshad Shahab, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Presidency, said that the Kurdish leader “will hold several meetings and will exchange views on the Kurdistan Region and Iraq's relations with other countries and the latest developments in the region.”

The three-day event will kick off on Friday. President Barzani has attended the conference for several years. US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will also attend the conference.

“The Munich Security Conference is the world's leading forum for debating international security policy. It is a venue for diplomatic initiatives to address the world's most pressing security concerns,” according to its website.

Its objective is to “ build trust and to contribute to the peaceful resolution of conflicts by sustaining a continuous, curated and informal dialogue within the international security community,” it adds.

The 61th edition of the conference will focus on global security challenges on its first day. On Saturday, it will be dedicated to discussions on the state of the international order. On the last day of the event, there will be discussions on the role of Europe in the world, according to its agenda.
