Preliminary results from Turkey's local elections

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The overall voter turnout in Turkey's local elections on Sunday reached 78 percent, slightly lower than 83 percent turnout for the presidential elections of 2023. Over 61,000,000 were eligible to cast ballots at polling stations across the country, with violence erupting at stations in the Kurdish province of Sirnak.

According to preliminary results ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) once again lost main cities Ankara and Istanbul to opposition's Republican People’s Party (CHP), additionally losing the Kurdish province of Sanliurfa (Riha).
