ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The bodies of four more mountaineers who went missing in Iran’s western Kurdistan province on Friday have been found, the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) said on Saturday, bringing the number of people killed up to six.

A group of mountaineers travelled to the highlands of Kurdistan province for “recreational purposes,” Governor Kiumars Habibi told state media on Friday. They were caught in an avalanche. The bodies of two, a man and a woman, were found hours later.

The IRCS said on Saturday that six people died in the incident and another was injured. The bodies were found “thanks to the efforts of rescue teams and local people,” it said.

The incident was reported Friday evening and occurred in the mountains about 33 kilometers from Baneh.
